FAQ

Questions about Medicare where you live

How many Medicare Advantage plans are available in northwest Ohio for 2027?

Across the four counties Kryder Cares covers in person, CMS lists 210 county-level Medicare Advantage plan offerings for 2027: 57 in Wood County, 58 in Lucas County, 43 in Hancock County, 52 in Monroe County. Special Needs Plans are counted separately. Many plans are offered in more than one county.

Are Medicare plans the same in every county?

No. Medicare Advantage plans are approved county by county, so the plan list, premiums and out-of-pocket limits in Lucas County can differ from Wood or Hancock County. That’s why each county guide carries its own 2027 plan tables. Standalone Part D plans, by contrast, are the same statewide.

Which Medicare carriers are leaving the Toledo area for 2027?

Based on the CMS 2027 landscape and plan crosswalk, these carriers have no Medicare Advantage plans in at least one of our counties for 2027: MediGold, Paramount Elite Medicare Plans, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Across the four counties, 99 county-level plan offerings from 2026 are not returning. Each county guide lists them.

Which areas does Kryder Cares serve?

Kryder Cares serves clients across northwest Ohio, including Perrysburg, Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, Bowling Green and Findlay, as well as Monroe, Michigan. Kris Kryder is licensed in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Florida, so she can also help clients elsewhere in those states by phone or video.

Do I have to live near Perrysburg to work with Kris?

No. In-person meetings are available at the Perrysburg office, but Kris also meets by phone and video. As long as you live in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana or Florida, where she is licensed, she can review your options and help you enroll in plans available in your county.

Why do insurance plans vary by county?

Insurance companies choose where to offer each plan and build provider networks around local doctors and hospitals. A Medicare Advantage plan sold in one county may not be sold in the next, and premiums can differ too. That is why Kris always checks plans by ZIP code before comparing options.

Can Kris help me if I spend winters in Florida?

Yes. Kris is licensed in both Ohio and Florida. If you split your time between states, your choice of coverage matters, since many Medicare Advantage networks are local. Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement may offer more flexibility for travel. Kris can explain the trade-offs for your situation.

What local Medicare help is available in northwest Ohio?

Kryder Cares in Perrysburg offers no-cost, in-person Medicare reviews with Kris Kryder at (419) 277-8097. The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio in Toledo provides services for older adults. For Medicaid and Medicare Savings Programs, contact the Ohio Department of Medicaid or your county Job and Family Services office. In Michigan, contact the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
