Right across the river from Maumee

Maumee and Perrysburg face each other across the Maumee River, so the Kryder Cares office is close by. For many Maumee residents, a meeting with Kris takes less time than a trip to the grocery store. That makes it easy to bring a spouse, sit down together, and go over your choices with someone local. Bring your questions, your paperwork and any letters from your current plan.

Kris has worked with neighbors on both sides of the river since 2017. She knows that people in Maumee, Waterville and Monclova Township often want a real person to call, not a phone tree. When you call (419) 277-8097, you reach her office directly during business hours. You can also email kris@krydercares.com.

Medicare in Maumee: St. Luke’s, St. Anne and your network

St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee is a familiar name for many families, and Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital and ProMedica Toledo Hospital are a short drive away. Your doctors may belong to different systems, so check whether your doctors are in network before choosing a Medicare Advantage plan. Networks can change from year to year.

HMO plans generally require you to use in-network providers except in emergencies. PPO plans may allow out-of-network care at a higher cost. A Medicare Supplement, such as Plan G or Plan N, works with Original Medicare and any provider that accepts Medicare. Kris can compare all three paths with your own doctors in mind.

  • Medicare Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 – December 7, 2026.
  • New 2027 coverage begins January 1, 2027.
  • Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 – March 31, 2027.

Health insurance for Maumee residents under 65

If you retired before 65, run a small business or work part time, you may need individual coverage. Ohio uses HealthCare.gov. Open Enrollment for 2027 runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027, and you need to enroll by December 15 for a January 1 start. Enrollments made December 16 through January 15 start February 1.

Premium tax credits for 2027 are generally available for household incomes between about 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level. Above that, there is generally no credit. Kris can compare ACA plans and, if you need a temporary bridge, explain the limits of short-term medical. She is not a tax adviser.

Life insurance and final expense for Maumee families

Life insurance can help your family keep the house, cover debts or pay for a funeral. Term life is a common way to protect a family for a set number of years. Whole life lasts your entire life and builds guaranteed cash value you can borrow against. Kris can explain the differences and help you weigh cost against how long you need coverage.

Many Maumee retirees choose a small final expense policy so children are not left with funeral bills. These policies are commonly between $5,000 and $25,000 and often use a short health questionnaire instead of an exam. Kris can also talk about fixed and fixed-indexed annuities if you want to protect part of your savings.

Benefits for Maumee employers

From shops in uptown Maumee to offices near the Arrowhead Park area, local businesses compete for good workers. A solid benefits package can help. Kris works with employers on group health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and explains each option in clear terms. She can also help you review an existing plan at renewal time.

She also helps employees who are approaching 65 understand when they need to sign up for Medicare. That kind of guidance can prevent costly mistakes. See the employee benefits page or call to set up a time to talk. Leaving group coverage starts an eight-month Special Enrollment Period for Part B, and missing it can lead to a lifelong penalty.

How Kris works with clients in Maumee

Once your coverage is in place, Kris stays available for questions throughout the year. She reviews your plan again each fall so changes in drugs, costs or doctors do not catch you off guard. FAQ

Insurance questions from Maumee, OH

Can I meet with a Medicare agent in person in Maumee?

Kris Kryder’s office is in Perrysburg, about a 10-minute drive from Maumee across the river. You can meet her there in person, or by phone or video if that is easier. Ask about a home visit if you have trouble getting out. Consultations are no-cost and you are never obligated to enroll.

Is St. Luke’s Hospital in network for Medicare Advantage plans?

It depends on the plan. Each Medicare Advantage plan has its own network, and networks can change from year to year. Kris can check whether St. Luke’s Hospital and your doctors are in network for each plan you are considering. With Original Medicare and a Medigap plan, you can generally use any provider that accepts Medicare.

What is the difference between Medigap Plan G and Plan N?

Both work alongside Original Medicare. Plan G covers everything Original Medicare leaves except the Part B deductible. Plan N usually has a lower premium but may include small copays for some office and emergency visits. Kris can compare current rates in Maumee from several companies. Learn more on the Medicare Supplement page.

When can I change my Medicare plan if I live in Maumee?

Most people change plans during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, 2026, for coverage starting January 1, 2027. Medicare Advantage members also have January 1 to March 31, 2027 to switch plans once or return to Original Medicare. Some life events, such as moving, can create a Special Enrollment Period.

I retired early in Maumee. How do I get health insurance until Medicare?

You can usually buy a Marketplace plan through HealthCare.gov. Leaving employer coverage typically opens a Special Enrollment Period, and Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Kris can compare ACA plans, check your doctors, and explain whether you may qualify for a premium tax credit.

Will I pay a penalty if I delay Medicare Part B?

You may, unless you have qualifying coverage. If you work for an employer with 20 or more employees, the group plan is usually primary and you can often delay Part B without penalty. Otherwise, the penalty is 10% for each full 12-month period you went without Part B. Try the Part B penalty calculator for an estimate.

Does Kris sell final expense insurance in Maumee?

They are typically simplified issue, meaning you answer health questions instead of taking an exam. They can help your family cover a funeral and final bills. Kris can compare options from several companies.
